馃尀 Something Exploded on the Far Side of the Sun

Yesterday, August 9, something exploded on the far side of the sun. Coronagraphs onboard the orbiting Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) tracked the fast-moving cloud as it billowed into space. The CME was not aimed at Earth so there will be no space weather consequences for our planet. What caused the explosion? An active sunspot must be lurking just around the corner. It should appear in a few days when the sun's rotation carries that part of the sun into view from Earth.
