NASA e ISRO han juntado esfuerzos para lanzar un satélite que ayudará al estudio de los sismos y sus patrones. El satélite es llamado Radar de Abertura Sintética NASA-ISRO, o NISAR Y está programado a lanzarse en el 2021. Adicionalmente, el satélite también es diseñado para estudiar y medir algunos otros procesos naturales más complejos de la Tierra como la perturbación a los ecosistemas por el colapso de pedazos de glaciares, estimación de biomasa, etc. Ayudará también a actividades de producción agrícola. El anuncio fue hecho en el "10th SPIE Asia Pacific Remote Sensing Symposium"  organizado en Nueva Delhi.                                                                    

" NASA and ISRO have joined hands to launch a satellite that will help study earthquake and its patterns. The satellite is called NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar, or NISAR. And is scheduled to be launched by 2021. Other than earthquakes, the satellite also is designed to study and measure some of the most complex natural processes of the Earth like ecosystem disturbances ice-sheet collapse etc biosmass estimation. It will also give inputs on agricultural production activities. The announcement was made at the 10th SPIE Asia Pacific Remote Sensing Symposium being organized in New Delhi. "
